Ryanair has noted that most passengers would be willing to stand during short flights if the fare was free. This was a statement that came in according to a poll that was released by the no frills carrier. The poll showed that 80,000 passengers, 66 percent of them, said that they would be happy to stand during a one hour flight. Only 34 percent of the people said that they would want a seat.

Ryanair’s chief spokesman, Stephen McNamara, said that 120,000 passengers voted, and 80,000 of them said that they would stand on board a Ryanair flight. This means that Ryanair will continue to explore the concept of fare-free standing flights with Boeing.

Under this new proposal, passengers would be able to lean on a stool or ledge and wear a seatbelt during take off and landing. Passengers would still have to, of course, pay taxes on the flights and any charges imposed by the government and airports, but the actual price of the ticket would be free.

Ryanair also asked if passengers should have a choice of standing on short flights as they do on trains and buses. Sixty percent of people said yes and 40 percent of people said no.

Ryanair has abandoned plans for a fat tax on obese passengers. However, they only did away with the tax, because it would slow down check in procedures. The airline has been openly criticized for considering other money making schemes, including charging people to use the toilet. This poll came about just one day after the budget carrier said it was going to cut capacity.
