Reports now show that Saudi Arabia’s national airline, Saudi Arabian Airlines, has now taken its very first delivery of an Airbus A320. This aircraft was acquired under a long term lease agreement with ALAFCO.
The Airbus A320 will now be deployed by Saudi Arabian Airlines on routes from Saudi Arabia to Europe and India. Depending on how the configuration goes, the A320 will be able to seat between 120 and 132 people in two different classes. The big plane is powered by CFM56 engines.
The director general of Saudi Arabian Airlines, Khalid Al Molhem, said that the Airbus A320 is the right aircraft for their modernization plans. Not only does the aircraft combine operational efficiency with cabin comfort, it will be able to meet the high demands of the passengers flying on these routes.
Saudi Arabian Airlines’ Airbus A320 is the first to actually be equipped with a high bandwidth in-flight entertainment system. Now passengers can have access to high speed interactive services, such as video and audio on demand.
The chairman and CEO of ALAFCO, Ahmad Alzabin, said that his company is proud to provide Saudi Arabian Airlines with its very first Airbus A320. This is just the first of 13 that will be delivered to the airline.
John Leahy, the Airbus Chief Operating Officer, said that Saudi Arabian Airlines is now becoming an operator of the A320 thanks to ALAFCO. This is an aircraft that is very popular with operators that have high value in mind. It remains unclear when the other A320 aircrafts will be delivered to Saudi Arabian Airlines.
