SIXT, an international car hire firm, was awarded the title of World’s Best Car Rental Company at the 2009 “Best Awards, sponsored annually by “Travel + Leisure”, a tourism magazine published internationally. The European-based car hire company, which operates locally under the name of Gargash Enterprises, has been offering services from Abu Dhabi International Airport and also keeps offices in Sharjah and Dubai airports.

The annual survey, sponsored by the internationally syndicated travel magazine, polls travellers on items such as favorite travel experiences and incorporates travellers from all around the world. This year a total of 300,000 travel professionals participated in the campaign and voting process.

Sixt is best known for their option to book online from anywhere in the world for any travel destination where the car hire company provides rentals. The application is also available for mobile users who can access the website from their mobile devices.

The company boasts over 75 years in experience and operates 4,000 SIXT rental stations. In 2000, the car hire firm penetrated the UAE market and since has established offices in most popular travel destinations. Currently there are three offices located in Dubai.

The car hire firm offers a variety of options in vehicles and services including compact sedans to luxury, high-end vehicles. The company also offers a unique aspect of four-wheel drive and SUVs which can be optioned for specialty uses.

SIXT AG, the parent company for all branch locations, operates mainly in a suburb of Munich. The firm was created in 1912 and since then has expanded to operate out of 100 countries in 4,000 locations. Recently, in a move towards being more environmentally friendly, the car hire firm has begun offering electric vehicles as well.
