Aer Lingus, the Irish national airline, has met with delays in the proposed release of its latest profit figures owing to cabin crew members rejecting a range of new cost-cutting proposals.
Raher, the under-fire carrier will instead issue a new trading update and will delay the release of the much anticipated profit details for a later date. Minister Tony Killeen told that budget airline Ryanair had recently withdrawn its earlier decision to stop its flight services from Shannon to Liverpool and Edinburg. He said that Ryanair summer flights will continue to operate every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Minister Killeen also confirmed Ryanair’s continued services to London Gatwick, Malaga, London Stansfed, Palma, Nantes, Wroclaw, Tenerife and Paris Beauvais until the end of summer 2010.
Killeen said that the growth of Shannon Airport depends on the services currently offered. He emphasized that Ryanair’s recent decision complements the UK’s domestic and transatlantic services currently being provided by Aer Lingus and Continental Airlines.

It seems that airline easyJet will fill the slots at Gatwick Airport, which will be vacated by Aer Lingus later this year. The budge airline is adding three aircrafts to its fleet at Gatwick but has not revealed where they will be flying to.
Aer Lignus, meanwhile, will take two of its Airbus A320’s out of operation and reduce its fleet size to just three at Gatwick. The move will become effective starting at the end of March. The well known Irish carrier, Aer Lingus, is just one of the many airlines that have had to cut many routes in order to save money. However, it seems that the amount of routes that Aer Lignus has already cut is not enough, and the company is being forced to cut yet more Gatwick routes. It now seems that Aer Lingus has announced that it could be forced to make some more job cuts, as well as suspend some more routes. This announcement came just following the news that talks between management and crew had finally broken down.

The carrier Aer Lingus has now admitted that it needs more voluntary redundancies. They went on to say that if they do not get the redundancies that they need, then more cuts will have to be made but by force. The Irish carrier, which is currently in talks with unions, said that it has been able to save €97 million under its Transformation Plan.
