New reports now suggest that Korean Air will actually be operating an Airbus A380 to London in time for the 2012 London Olympic games. According to the chief executive of Korean Air, these aircrafts will help get more people to London to see the games, thus, helping the airline to fly more people.
The CEO and chairman of Korean Air, Yang Ho Cho, just recently confirmed that these aircrafts will be operating the route. This is big news since the planes were meant to originally be operating in time for the Beijing Olympics, which has long since past.
Yang Ho Cho went [...]

It now seems that Airbus has just recently revealed that it has an order from Ethiopain Airlines. The reason why this is such a big deal for Airbus is because Ethiopian Airlines is a long term Boeing customer. The order is for 12 of its new A350 XWB aircrafts, in a deal that is valued at $2.8 billion. This now brings Airbus’ worldwide orders to 505.
Ethiopian has now selected the A350-900 to operate from their hub in Addis Ababa on routes to Europe, Asia, and the United States. The carrier does have an order for 10 Boeing 787 Drealiner aircrafts, [...]

The impending economic recovery coupled with high Asian demand has aircraft manufacturer Airbus forecasting a take-off in sales.
The latest predictions are a far cry from the recent outlook announced by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) who estimates a loss of close to £10 billion this year. IATA claims the current air travel crisis is worse even than post 9/11 on the back of unprecedented airline closures.
Despite the worldwide downturn, Airbus is confident of a 5% rise in passenger numbers in 2010 primarily due to greater traffic in China and India. Traditionally, airline passenger growth has doubled annually prior to [...]

John Leahy, the Airbus Chief Operating Officer said that the company feels very optimistic about the recovery of the airline industry. However, he also pointed out that the financing conditions will remain very tight for a while longer. Airbus said that airlines will buy about 25,000 planes over the next 20 years. This is worth about $3.1 trillion.
Right now the figures for the purchase of new aircraft between 2009 and 2029 is up from the 24,262 planes that were forecast between the years 2007 and 2027. Airbus goes on to predict that the passenger numbers will fall by 2 percent [...]

After an electrical fault cut off all radio communication, a pilot on a EasyJet Airbus 319 feared being shot down by the French military. This new information was reported by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch.
The 42-year-old pilot, rather than risk a very dangerous confrontation with 144 people on the plane, chose to fly hundreds of miles to Bristol using manual controls alone. Apparently the aircraft had experienced difficulties on the outbound flight from Stansted to Alicante. The crew believed that they heard a very loud “clunk” noise.
Despite the fault being identified as one of the aircraft’s generators, the plane was [...]

Airbus could be looking at a nice aid package worth almost £350 million thanks to the UK government. This aid package will be used towards the development of the A350 XWB. This is a carbon fiber aircraft that aims to rival the new Boeing Dreamliner. This package from the UK government represents about half of what Airbus was seeking from the UK to develop the wide body jet.
The Business Secretary, Lord Mandelson, is expected to confirm that the UK will be supporting the launch of the Airbus carbon fiber aircraft when he visits the company’s facility at Filton, which is [...]

The airspeed systems have mysteriously failed on several flights within the United States. New discoveries about the failures suggest that there could be a substantial bug in the systems of many planes.
The problem occurred on at least a dozen different flights by American jetliners. The equipment malfunction made it so pilots could not tell how fast they were flying. This can be extremely dangerous. This is the same kind of malfunction that is believed to have caused the recent Air France crash that killed 228 people.
The findings of investigators suggest that the problems causing this malfunction could be widespread. There [...]

The European aviation safety regulators have now said that all carriers that are flying large Airbus aircraft need to replace their pilot speed probes made by Thales with those made by Goodrich. This choice comes following the investigations of flight 447, which plunged into the Atlantic shortly after starting a flight from Rio to Paris back on June 1.
The findings of the investigation on flight 447 suggest that the faulty Thales sensors are very likely to have contributed to the accident that killed all 228 people that were on the plane. This new proposal says that any airline that has [...]

Airbus has been able to weather one of the toughest episodes in aviation history by reporting a rise in aircraft deliveries for the first six months of 2009. However, reports now come in that show that the worst could still be yet to come for Airbus.
New orders for the current period show a massive shrinking of 86 percent to just 68 orders. This is compared to the 487 orders for the same period last year.
However, Airbus does point out that in 2008 the 483 aircrafts delivered was a record for them, and it even beat out its main rival Boeing [...]
