Once again, Avis Rent-A-Car has been awarded the title of leader in the field of car hire customer loyalty. The US-based Brand Keys Customer Loyalty Engagement Index found Avis the number one rental outfit for brand loyalty, marking the 11th year in a row the group has been awarded the honour.
The annual survey examines the relationship that customers have with a total of 518 different brands across 71 categories. According to Brand Keys founder and President Robert Passikof, the award was testament to Avis’s continued leadership in the pursuit of excellence in the car hire industry.

For the sixth year in a row Enterprise Rent-A-Car has topped the US Car Rental Satisfaction Study published by J. D. Power and Associates.
The iconic study, which is now into its 15th year, calculated nearly 13,000 evaluations from a range of leisure and business customers who booked hire cars from airport locations across the US in the past 12 months.
The criteria used to measure satisfaction included fees and costs, the vehicle itself, the pick-up and return process, the reservation process and also whether there were transfers from the arrivals gate to the hire depot.

The effects of the global recession have been well documented amongst car firms which are heavily influenced by international air travel - Overall rental car volume declined by almost 10% in the first 6 months of 2009.

The Avis Budget Group announced last Monday that Budget Rent A Car and Avis Rent A Car are forming an alliance with Coby Electronics in order to begin offering their customers portable DVD players to rent at locations in Puerto Rico, Canada, and the United States. In the 2nd quarter, the net income of Avis dropped by 38%, following the company warning that the car hire business has been suffering.
