Susan Hutchison, executive for King county sent a letter this week to County Council members urging them to take the budget currently appropriated for ferries and move it to fund more buses.

The Balboa ferry has long been well known among California’s ferry riders, but today it was out of service with a 2-foot hole in its hull, the US Coast Guard says.
Luckily, the 57-foot ferry was not carrying passengers at the time of the incident. It ran aground at about 11:30 p.m. It was carrying about 50 gallons of gasoline which was removed from the boat for safety reasons. The Coast Guard said there was no sign of any pollution in the harbor.
