It now appears that full body scanners will be making their way to Heathrow Airport by the end of this current month. The government will also be introducing things like more frequent searches, behavioral analysis and even more sniffer dogs. The Home Secretary Alan Johnson also confirmed that they are considering the introduction of passenger profiling.
All of these new security measures are, of course, a direct result of the failed Christmas Bay bomb plot. The extra security measure will inevitably lead to yet more delays at the UK’s busiest and most congested airport. It is still not clear if other [...]

Figures that have been released by a survey, which was taken by members of Priority Pass, show that Heathrow Airport has been voted as the worst in the world. Priority Pass is one of the world’s leading independent airport lounge programs. The survey included responses from 160 countries and only respondents that took, on average, 17 flights this year were allowed to take part in the survey.

A new advert claiming that a third runway at Heathrow will not make the airport noisier or dirtier has now been ruled misleading by the Advertising Standards Authority. They went on to claim that the ad was also misleading for claiming that the runway would not go ahead unless local air quality meets EU standards on concentration of nitrogen dioxide. This ad has now been placed in many papers by pro-Heathrow expansion groups and was published in the period before the government’s January 2009 decision to approve a third runway at the west London airport.

Gatwick Airport could possibly see a second runway expansion rather than Stansted Airport or Heathrow Airport with secret plans being created by the companies who are bidding to purchase the second biggest airport in Britain. On Wednesday of last week, the Competition Commission supported the idea effectively, calling on the government to change their aviation policy. Their statement threatens to reveal state policy during a period when the Cabinet is having a dispute over building a 3rd runway at the Heathrow Airport.
If Gatwick Airport is to have an expansion, as many as 300 homes would be destroyed. [...]
