Hilton Hotels has announced the opening of its first property in Russia. The Hilton Moscow Leningradskaya will be the first of three major Hilton properties to open in Russia in this year alone. The hotel, owned by JSC Sadko Hotel, will be operated under an agreement with the Hilton brand, and will be managed by a subsidiary of Interstate Hotels & Resorts.

The Hilton New York, along with its nearly 2,000 rooms, is going a long way toward becoming a truly green hotel. The hotel’s commitment to clean, efficient energy is demonstrated by their installation of a PureCell Model 200 power unit. The unit designed and installed by United Technologies Corporation based in Connecticut, will provide a large portion of the hotel’s power. The UTC fuel cell is designed to reduce Hilton New York’s carbon footprint by nearly 800 tons each year. The top honor for the Best Hotel Chain has been earned by Hilton Hotels & Resorts from the readers of Executive Travel. The firm also had high votes in the top three categories, which also included the Best Hotel for Meetings and Best Hotel for Business Service, from the the Leading Edge Awards presented by the magazine, which gives recognition to the most innovative travel companies in the industry. The guest loyalty program by Hilton Hotels & Resorts, called Hilton HHonors, was also named in the top three guest programs.
