Leading car hire car broker Economy Car Hire has announced the release of a new fleet of eco-friendly hybrid cars across its UK airport locations, allowing customers easy opportunities to reduce their carbon footprint while avoiding congestion charges in the capital.

In spite of ongoing strike threats and warnings of civil action, the troubled British Airways group has given in to popular demand by announcing the extension of its special deals for residents of the United Arab Emirates.
The sale, originally slated as one for New Years, will now be extended to the 26th of January. This means that passengers bound for London from the UAE – 26 flights each week to London Heathrow – can still take advantage of great low fares. Apparently, armed police stormed a plane at London Heathrow Airport just recently due to fears of a terror threat. The police swarmed the Dubai-bound Emirates plane as it was taxiing on the tarmac before take off.
Passengers that were on the plane were terrified as they watched police, which were apparently armed with aromatic weapons, stormed the flight. Some witnesses say that they handcuffed the suspect, who was said to be a white male, and got him off the aircraft quickly. There were also reports of another individual being arrested as well.

It now appears that full body scanners will be making their way to Heathrow Airport by the end of this current month. The government will also be introducing things like more frequent searches, behavioral analysis and even more sniffer dogs. The Home Secretary Alan Johnson also confirmed that they are considering the introduction of passenger profiling.

A United Airlines pilot was this week arrested for allegedly consuming too much alcohol before entering the cockpit. The arrest was the latest in a string of incidents concerning airline pilots and intoxication.

In a poll that was done by “Which?” magazine, the London Heathrow Airport has been voted the worst UK airport for customer satisfaction. Terminals 2, 3 and 4 came out among the worst, however, these terminals were followed very closely by the two terminals in Gatwick Airport.

As a way to help reduce delays that are caused by fog, London Heathrow Airport has announced new landing technology. This “microwave” technology will help to drastically reduce all delays that are caused by fog. The Microwave Landing System, as it is being called, has already been installed on 29 British Airways planes. This was a move that cost the airline about £5 million.
