According to TUI Travel, last year’s trend for ‘staycations’ is over and holidaymakers are now keen to get away to foreign climes in order to soak up a bit of summer sun. TUI, which owns First Choice and Thomson Holidays, said that a bounce back to normal behaviour was illustrated by an increase this year in holiday bookings from the UK. Between the middle of March and the beginning of May, TUI claim that bookings were up by five per cent.
Although there is still a lack of confidence in economic recovery, Peter Long, TUI’s chief executive, said that there was strong [...]

TUI Travel, owner of Thomson Holidays, has revealed a significant comeback in travel demand as holidaymakers ignore the slump. The travel company said that UK bookings for this summer have risen 13 per cent despite an average nine per cent increase in selling prices.
UK holidaymakers have earlier faced several problems, including the recent global economic recession and weaker pound exchange rates. TUI’s increased bookings mean that holidaymakers are determined to travel abroad after two disappointing summers in a row.
The country’s unemployment rate has also not gone up as high as first projected, while would-be travellers seem undeterred by worries over [...]

Apparently new reports have come in that show a British holidaymaker has won a refund of almost £600 from the well known travel group Thomson Holidays. The British blogger was able to get this money back after he sent out his complaints on an internet blog. Unfortunately for the travel company, the internet blog made its way to the top of Google searches.
The 23-year-old blogger, Andrew Sharman, claimed that he got nowhere with his complaint until after he published it on his blog. From there almost 10,000 people read about it. He went on to say that Google, one of [...]

Travelers who are on a budget following the credit crunch may not have to abandon their travel overseas just yet, because the biggest tour operator in the United Kingdom is offering a wide variety of foreign holidays for only 2 pounds per night for a studio apartment or double room in destinations which include Greece and Turkey. The deal’s catch is that a few of the rooms are only available for one night at a time in October, so some travelers who are booking a room for a week may have to pay more for any additional nights after [...]

A family that booked a holiday last August in Tunisia with Thomson Holidays was offered a compensation of only 3 pounds when they told the company of their disastrous trip.  Corporal Phil Trask, who just returned from an Iraq tour of duty, spent over 2,000 pounds on the holiday on the internet, with is wife and 2 children, thinking that he was purchasing a room in a 4-star hotel with a view of the sea.  He is now suing Thomson Holidays.
When the family arrived in Tunisia, they found that the room they booked was dirty, and the staff didn’t do [...]

As of just last month, First Choice Airways and Thomsonfly will operate under the Thomson Airways brand name.  TUI AG is actually Thomson Holidays’ owner, and since last year, the two holiday companies of First Choice and TUI AG were the two most recent brands that were reorganized and merged together to create TUI Travel.
Now the pilots for both of these carriers are flying as part of an operation that is unified, and there will be more integration to take place.  Thomson Airways is planning on being the first carrier in Europe to use the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner in [...]

Thomson Holidays is a leading United Kingdom tour operator. Thomson was founded in 1965 with a combination between Britannia Airways and three different packaging holiday companies. This company has grown to be the market leader of the package holiday market with not even ten years to do it in. Thomson Holidays is currently operating with about 30% of the market share in the package holiday market of the United Kingdom, which only gives the company more weight to the strong reputation and brand that they represent already.
The Lunn Poly chain of travel agents in the United Kingdom was bought by [...]

After David Barnish, a British holidaymaker, took Thomson Holidays to court, the company was made to pay a fee of £750. The guy was suing, because the Kos hotel that he and is family had stayed in on their holiday was only geared for the German market. The cost of the holiday for Mr. Barnish was £4,000 at the Grecotel Royal Park. Because all of the activities were available in German only, they were not able to participate in them. The judge made his ruling that the company brochure was misleading and didn’t make it clear that the Grecotel Royal [...]
