It would appear that a number of UK airports are having to remain closed due to the adverse weather conditions, which are affecting the whole country. Airports like Gatwick, Bristol, Exeter and Blackpool had to remain closed yesterday due to worsening snow conditions. Other airports like Heathrow, Birmingham, Luton and Southampton remain open, but they say that people should expect some long delays and cancellations.
Stansted Airport, one of the few airports that is running normally, said that everything is running as it should, but travelers should allow extra time to get to the airport due to bad road conditions. All [...]

Apparently a number of UK airports had to shutdown and a lot of rail services delayed recently due to a big freeze that continues to hold the UK at its mercy. Places like Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester had to close down their airports earlier in the week due to heavy snowfall and ice on the runways. Although most airports are now back open, the damage has already been done to some flight schedules.
For example, easyJet was just one of the many airlines that was forced to cancel dozens of flights in both the UK and European airports. Snow fell overnight [...]

Scottish ministers have been accused of providing misleading information regarding the costs of the Glasgow Airport rail link by the head of the Glasgow City Council Steven Purcell.
Purcell has raised doubts over the accuracy of double-accounting on the rail project which has been scrapped by the government. The Scottish ministers had decided to disband the project over forecasted budget cuts and rising construction costs. The government claimed that costs for the project had risen to a level where they were no longer able to support the rail link but Purcell argues that the rise in cost has been just £2.5 [...]

A new draft European Union proposal could see overseas ‘superlorries’, some up to 60 tonnes, traversing the country.
The superlorries or road trains are around 30% heavier and longer than what is currently allowed on British roads and have a history of condemnation from motoring groups who claim they endanger other drivers. However, the latest discussions in Brussels look set to overrule objections from the UK as they look to implement laws allowing free travel for superlorries across all EU member states.
Advocates of the giant rigs claim that congestion is reduced due to the sheer size of the vehicle which limits [...]
