The well known UK travel agent, Thomas Cook, has just revealed that it is the latest sponsor of the 2012 London Olympic Games. Thomas Cook became a tier two sponsor in a deal that is said to be worth more than £20 million.
Thomas Cook is planning to provide some short breaks and trips for the 2012 London Olympic Games. The goal for the company is to provide more than 250,000 packages, including transport, tickets and accommodations. The organizers of the London Olympic games have now been able to raise £550 million of the £700 million sponsorship target. They have been able to do this with just 23 domestic sponsors so far.
The chairman of the London Committee of the Olympic Games, Lord Coe, said that Thomas Cook is the perfect partner for them and will help the committee to deliver their promise to make sure that as many people as possible get to go to the event in 2012. Thomas Cook will be able to help people, no matter where they live, get to the games.
The group Chief executive officer for Thomas Cook, Manny Fontenla Novoa, said that more than a century after Thomas Cook escorted British travelers to the first modern Olympic Games in Athens, they get the opportunity to do it again. However, this time they get the pleasure of doing the event in their own country. He went on to say that as a company, they are very proud that Thomas Cook will be a leading brand in this most prestigious global event, and they hope to see everyone there.
