Apparently new reports have come in that show a British holidaymaker has won a refund of almost £600 from the well known travel group Thomson Holidays. The British blogger was able to get this money back after he sent out his complaints on an internet blog. Unfortunately for the travel company, the internet blog made its way to the top of Google searches.
The 23-year-old blogger, Andrew Sharman, claimed that he got nowhere with his complaint until after he published it on his blog. From there almost 10,000 people read about it. He went on to say that Google, one of the most well known internet search engines, displayed his blog page at the top of its results when any internet user typed in the words “Thomson Tunisia Trip.” Days after publishing the blog, he informed Thomson Holidays how popular his new blog had gotten, and they offered to pay him £595 in the form of a refund for his £900 holiday.
In the blog, Andrew talked about how his 26-year-old girlfriend, Taryn Capewell, was misled when they booked their holiday with Thomson Holidays in Leicester. They ended up choosing Port El Kantaouis in Tunisia after being told that scuba diving was available and the food and drinks were inexpensive.
However, once they got to Tunisia they found out that beer was actually £3 a pint, which was twice as much as what Thomson Holidays has quoted. They also found out that there was no scuba diving in that area and that they had two single beds in their room instead of the requested double.
After getting the refund, Thomson Holidays asked if he would put something on his blog about how it was finally handled. He said yes, but he would also included what he had to do it to get the issue taken care of.
