As of just last month, First Choice Airways and Thomsonfly will operate under the Thomson Airways brand name.  TUI AG is actually Thomson Holidays’ owner, and since last year, the two holiday companies of First Choice and TUI AG were the two most recent brands that were reorganized and merged together to create TUI Travel.

Now the pilots for both of these carriers are flying as part of an operation that is unified, and there will be more integration to take place.  Thomson Airways is planning on being the first carrier in Europe to use the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner in 2010.

The new managing director of the Thomson Airways airline company has been named to be Chris Browne.  He has said that the company will now operate 65 planes from 21 United Kingdom located airports to over 80 destination spots worldwide with the incorporation of both the airlines under one name.

In December 2003, Thomsonfly was launched, and Maria Heckle was the marketing brand handler at the time.  The position of Thomsonfly’s marketing director was axed in August 2006, and overall Andrew Rayner assumed all of the marketing responsibilities as the head of marketing for Thomson.  Then when the formation was made of TUI Travel in May, Andrew Rayner succeeded in leaving when the appointment of Tim Willamson was made as the head of product and marketing.

Both the Thomson brand and First Choice will remain seen as travel agents on the high street, and their operations overseas will continue also.
