People in Gloucester are now going to be able to get a better night sleep now that a brand new Travelodge hotel has opened. Earlier this week, Travelodge celebrated the official opening of its very first hotel in Gloucester. The Travelodge hotel, which was first owned by The Mayor of Gloucester, Councillor Chris Witts, is said to have cost £3.8 million.
Chris Witts said that he was very pleased to see the first Travelodge to be opened in Gloucester. He went on to say that he was pleased to see it despite the current economic difficulties and woes that everyone is facing. The Mayor of Gloucester said that he was very happy to see that companies like Travelodge are still willing to invest in this city, even during the hard times. This goes double for a hotel company, as their industry is being hit harder than many other industries.
Mr Witts also wanted to note that this new hotel will provide some much needed opportunities for people in the city at a time when unemployment is on the rise. It is said that the new 96 room hotel opened by Travelodge will be creating 20 new jobs in the community. He also noted that this hotel is the latest step in the regeneration of the Gloucester’s western waterfront area. This is an area that will also see a brand new Sainsbury Supermarket open later on.
Travelodge said that they are pleased to be a part of this community and to feel so welcome. Like many other hotel chains, Travelodge knows that now is the best time to be buying up properties before the economy turns back around.
