The new multi-million pound Travelodge hotel in Scarborough is set to be officially unveiled today, June 11. This new 140-room budget hotel has been built on the site of the former St Nicholas Hotel and has created 20 new jobs since its £7.9 million renovation.

The opening of the hotel will feature a children’s art exhibition. This exhibition will feature images of how youngsters see Scarborough in the future. This is just a fun way to get people from the community involved in the opening of the brand new hotel. The pictures of the kids will be judge by three judges.

Travelodge has also stated that the Scarborough landscape photographer, known as Michael Stead, has won a competition to sit in as the third judge for the children’s art exhibition. The other two judges will be Urban Renaissance manager Nick Taylor and Mayor Bill Chatt.

Mr Stead, who has illustrated many books, including collaborations with such writers as Nicholas Rhea and Terry Wogan, said that he is delighted to have been chosen as the third judge. He went on to say that he feels great pride in being able to help Scarborough’s next generation of budding artists and mark how they see the future.

Travelodge has said that they are delighted that so many people will be taking part in the opening of this new Travelodge hotel. They also hope that the hotel will be able to interact with the community like this more often and really get people to come together. This Travelodge is set to offer great prices on rooms for all visits to the Scarborough area.
