It would appear that a number of UK airports are having to remain closed due to the adverse weather conditions, which are affecting the whole country. Airports like Gatwick, Bristol, Exeter and Blackpool had to remain closed yesterday due to worsening snow conditions. Other airports like Heathrow, Birmingham, Luton and Southampton remain open, but they say that people should expect some long delays and cancellations.

Stansted Airport, one of the few airports that is running normally, said that everything is running as it should, but travelers should allow extra time to get to the airport due to bad road conditions. All other major UK airports are open, although most are experiencing some kind of delays or cancellations due to the bad weather conditions, which swept over the UK earlier this week.

Gatwick Airport went on to say that they are working very close with airlines and business partners to reopen the runway as soon as it is safest to do so. They said that all passengers traveling from Gatwick in the next 24 hours should contact their airline for the latest flight updates. The airline noted that they due regret the disruption to the passengers, but safety is the number one concern.

Other airlines like easyJet had to cancel more than 70 services from airports all over the UK. Some of the airports that saw some cancellations from easyjet included Bristol, Belfast, Newcastle, Liverpool, Luton and Gatwick.

Of course, the UK’s big chill has caused problems on the roadways and rail lines as well. This goes double for any roadways that are located in the south east of the country, because this is where the heaviest snow fell.
