The Jamaica Tourist Board is advertising all inclusive holiday packages for less than £800 per week, with deals from Thomas Cook and Virgin Holidays being featured for 2 months in print, on posters, and in online media. Plus, many mainstream radio stations in Jamaica will broadcast the campaign as well. The campaign is going to kick off this week, where 17% of the billboard sites in London alone are taken up by the campaign.
Elizabeth Fox, the Regional Director of the Jamaica Tourist Board for the United Kingdom and Northern Europe, said that introducing this campaign now is not unusual for the board, as this month is the period to which most holiday bookings occur for the year. However, due to the current climate of the global economy, they want to really entice Brits through the promotion of great value for unbeatable prices, she continued. Fox added that the Jamaica Tourist Board knows that all inclusive holidays are very popular this year, while they help visitors to control their spending and offer great value to make their money go further.
Fox also said that promoting brands is critical now more than before, and they have to make sure that Jamaica is the place to go if they are going to weather this economic storm. Brits are going to keep traveling, she continued, but their choices are going to be considered more carefully wile competition becomes stiffer. During the year, they will be focusing on the promotion of Jamaica as a value destination that offers a welcome escape for Brits from the credit crunch’s doom and gloom, Fox concluded.
