Couples deciding to jet off together on a romantic break might want to have a quick think about what they are getting themselves into, according to a recent survey by Virgin Atlantic.
Although it might seem like the ultimate in romantic gestures, 42 per cent of all men poled said they realised, as soon as they took their seat on the plane, that they had made a mistake.
Managing to complete a holiday with a new lover was a problem for 15 per cent of those surveyed. Body issues also seem to feature highly on the holiday hang up list. Sharing a toilet was difficult for nearly half those surveyed and taking their clothes off on the beach was an issue for 17 per cent. Having to spend the whole day in each other’s company was a real issue for 43 per cent.
In fact, 35 per cent admitted they wished they had left their other half at home with 67 per cent saying they had seen a different side to their partner’s personality while abroad. Well over half of those who responded to the survey said couples were foolish to commit to a trip away together too early on in the relationship.
Virgin Atlantic’s director of product and service, Dee Cooper, said: ”A complimentary drink always helps our customers settle. But if the conversation dries up we have over 300 hours of interactive in flight entertainment to enjoy whilst on board. We’ve even recently introduced Love Heart Sweets on board to try and get those couples in the mood for nostalgia and romance.”
