VisitBritain is the official website for information on travel and tourism in the United Kingdom, offering practical advice and great deals.
The latest offering sees the online specialist team up with both Easyjet and British Airways to provide a range of new promotions for British cities. The new advertising campaign is a continuation from the successful 2009 promotion which showcased the likes of London, Glasgow, Bristol, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Newcastle, Manchester, Cardiff and Oxford. In keeping with last year’s formula the new campaign will see the VisitBritain site provide a valuable publicity boost for destination cities for the entire year.
The advertising on the site will offer valuable advice on travel to and from the featured cities along with identifying areas of cultural and historical significance and how best to explore them with a few facts thrown in for good measure.
With 2010 likely to see a continuation of the staycationing trend that became popular in 2009 the VisitBritain campaign will be of great interest to holidaymakers keen to explore their own backyard given that the travel industry is still feeling a strong hangover from the economic downturn. 2009 was officially one of the worst years in history for the travel industry as the weakening pound meant once cheap and plentiful holidays are now few and far between.
More probable is that the strengthening euro against the pound will result in an influx of overseas visitors to Britain keen to take full advantage of the exchange rates. The new airline collaboration will make travel to the UK that much easier.
