As football fans throughout the world plan their trips to South Africa for the World Cup at the end of the month, car hire firm Holiday Autos has increased its fleet size by 20 per cent.

The biggest car hire agent in the world, Holiday Autos, has been working to keep up with demand and make more cars available during the busy World Cup period. The first vehicles to go were mini buses, campervans, minivans and SUVs, which are now almost sold out.

There are still some cars available, however, for those looking to rent smaller vehicles, such as a Ford Focus or Renault Clio. Costs for seven days hire start at £140.

Holiday Autos Managing Director, Stuart Nassos, said a typical reason for the availability issue is because “car hire is one of the last parts of a holiday to be booked.”

He went on to say that “busy booking periods” including the World Cup “always prompt a supply shortage.” He added that this is the reason why Holiday Autos have been working hard to make more cars available.
