Al's Australia trip

The only thing I didn't like was:- The original website offered excess cover insurance at 50% off. What it did not say was that this insurance was for use in Europe only and I had to pay Questor an additional sum to get cover for Australia...Make the web pages more honest !!! Otherwise the booking, the car, the pick up and the drop off was absolutely brilliant!!!!!

Booking was smooth, car worked fine, price OK

I picked this car up from National in Melbourne, drove to Philip Island and Dandenongs and back, on a few dirt roads too, the car (a Holden) went well, OK on fuel, it was cheapest deal I could find, and the site gave me a few options from different companies, with details of the cars and the extras, what's not included and so on. It all went smoothly. The staff were a bit busy and abrupt but no probs when I brought it back.

keep the cost down

Easy to use site. Only drawback is that you don't know who you are booking with until you have committed. You can always cancel, though if it doesn't suit. For instance, I wasn't aware that the firm selected was off airport until I received the confirmation. Didn't bother me, and the shuttle service was excellent.

Very cheap, good car, somewhat near the airport...

We were visiting friends in Wellington, New Zealand and used 121, who arranged a rental voucher for 'Ace Rentals', a local firm. We got a very reasonable 2006 Nissan with about 80'000 miles on the clock which I am told is good for New Zealand. The only problem was the location, a good 15 minute drive from the airport, but there was a free shuttle so for the money we could not really complain. The car was well maintained and clean, and the staff very nice. I would definitely not call this 'Airport' rental though.

Following an upgrade in 2008, Rockhampton Airport has seen the addition of amenities in the main terminal. There is a new café and restaurant, check-in counters and a baggage carousel plus a screening desk for overseas flights. The Departures lounge was expanded, with the addition of 280 seats. More retail outlets are also set to be added. There are two ATMs in the terminal. The car park has seen the addition of 313 new parking spaces. Rockhampton Airport excursions

Ridgelands Road is the main road that links to the centre of Rockhampton from the airport. For recreation, numerous parks straddle both banks of the Fitzroy River. The Common and Norbridge Park are the largest. By the airport, Rockhampton Golf Course and the Botanic Gardens are both popular attractions. The town is just over 20 miles from the coast, where Kinka Beach and Emu Park are situated, the latter from where diving can be arranged.
