Al's Australia trip

The only thing I didn't like was:- The original website offered excess cover insurance at 50% off. What it did not say was that this insurance was for use in Europe only and I had to pay Questor an additional sum to get cover for Australia...Make the web pages more honest !!! Otherwise the booking, the car, the pick up and the drop off was absolutely brilliant!!!!!

Booking was smooth, car worked fine, price OK

I picked this car up from National in Melbourne, drove to Philip Island and Dandenongs and back, on a few dirt roads too, the car (a Holden) went well, OK on fuel, it was cheapest deal I could find, and the site gave me a few options from different companies, with details of the cars and the extras, what's not included and so on. It all went smoothly. The staff were a bit busy and abrupt but no probs when I brought it back.

keep the cost down

Easy to use site. Only drawback is that you don't know who you are booking with until you have committed. You can always cancel, though if it doesn't suit. For instance, I wasn't aware that the firm selected was off airport until I received the confirmation. Didn't bother me, and the shuttle service was excellent.

Very cheap, good car, somewhat near the airport...

We were visiting friends in Wellington, New Zealand and used 121, who arranged a rental voucher for 'Ace Rentals', a local firm. We got a very reasonable 2006 Nissan with about 80'000 miles on the clock which I am told is good for New Zealand. The only problem was the location, a good 15 minute drive from the airport, but there was a free shuttle so for the money we could not really complain. The car was well maintained and clean, and the staff very nice. I would definitely not call this 'Airport' rental though.

great customer service

Picked us up at the airport and returned us as well. Car didn't have much get up an go but very economical. The owner helped us witha problem that we had with another car rental company on the north island.

Singleton Airport car hire

With no scheduled passenger services offered, Singleton Airport is a small military airfield near the town of Whittingham. There are no known plans to open any civilian air links here. Car hire in Singleton Airport, also known as Dochra Airfield, is the most convenient way to get to the centre of Singleton, four miles away.

Singleton Airport facilities

There are no passenger amenities at Singleton Airport, given the lack of scheduled services here. There is a small car park which services the Just Jump Skydive centre, which offers the only facilities. Car rental in Singleton Airport is still possible and can be planned in advance of a visit here.

Singleton Airport excursions

The New England Highway links the airfield to the centre of Singleton. Skydiving is available at the airport, while the centre of town is dominated by a number of green parks which are situated close to the banks of the Hunter River. Singleton is home to one of the world's largest sun dials, a major draw, and there are three museums. There are a number of wineries just outside of town that can be reached with car hire.

Best time to visit

Temperatures soar above 40°C on a regular basis from the end of October right through until March. This period is also the wettest and sees regular thunderstorms. May to August is the preferable time of year to come here, when the heat dies down and the weather is drier. Temperatures at this time of year still regularly hit 30°C, however.
