Location information for Tremblade

La Tremblade is a picturesque French town near the coast of the Atlantic Ocean which is just 44kms from La Rochelle by car hire at La Tremblade. Car rental at La Tremblade is especially recommended for those wishing to visit the nearby town of Ronce-les-Bains and its beautiful beaches.

The local Europcar office in town is the most obvious place to find cheap car hire at La Tremblade, but several other options exist in Ronce-les-Bains and other surrounding communities. Car rental at La Tremblade can quickly transport visitors anywhere they want to go in the scenic Charente-Maritime department of France.

La Tremblade is best known as a small oyster fishing and farming town, and its proud heritage in this area is prominently displayed at its maritime museum. Many of La Tremblade's several oyster producers and restaurants also provide visitors with samples, and visitors may tour both the museum and the oyster sheds along the beach in the same morning.

All 25kms of beaches in the La Tremblade area are classified as Blue Flag beaches, and this region is an especially popular sand karting and surfing spot. It's also a 25kms journey through the cycling trail which travels through a scenic forest to the Coubre lighthouse, originally built in 1905 and 64m tall. The lighthouse also includes a museum and gift shop.

Visitors may also browse the local markets, try their luck at the Ronce-les-Bains casino, or travel to nearby Saujon aboard an old steam locomotive known as 'the train of seagulls.'
