Location information for Fréthun Train Station

Frethun is right up in the north of France near to Calais and is the main departure and entry point to and from the continent for those travelling on Eurostar trains. The train station is right in the town and has cheap car hire in Frethun Rail Station.

Calais Frethun Eurostar station is one of two stations serving Calais, with the other being Calais-Ville. SNCF and TGV Nord services also terminate here and Eurostar services arrive and depart throughout the day.

There is little to see with car rental in Frethun Rail Station, which is about five kilometres southwest of Calais and is essentially a suburb. Not many people have a look at Frethun itself, simply passing through or to catch services into England. There is, however, and old church worth checking out – the Church of St Michel – which dates from the 19th century, and plenty to see by hire car in the region.

You can easily head inland with car hire in Frethun Rail Station to the town of Saint Omer, 40kms to the southeast. It has a popular Saturday morning market and a bunch of bars and restaurants. There are also beach resorts up and down the coast that are nice to check out in the summer months.

In addition, those into nature can drive to the marshes in Guines, Ardres' old town, and the Le Platier d'Oye nature reserve. Farther afield with car rental in Frethun Rail Station is Dunkerque and the Belgian border to the north, Lille to the east and Le Havre to the south.

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

 Are there any additional costs?
