Up until 1980 Le Bourget Airport was one of the main air gateways to the exciting city of Paris. Unfortunately, the airport is no longer used by international or domestic passenger airlines but it does still operate private charters and freight air traffic as well as being able to accommodate emergency landings for flights diverted from other airports.

The airport is now most famous for hosting the Paris Air Show every two years and it is also the home of the French Museum of Air and Space (Musée de l'Air et de l'Espace). There are monuments to several aviators here including Charles Lindbergh and Raymonde de Laroche, the first woman to gain a pilot's licence.
