Commonly referred to as Corrado Gex Airport, Aosta Airport is the main air hub serving the Aosta Valley. It is situated just three kilometers to the east of Aosta town and less than 100kms to the north of Turin, Italy. It is one of the most important airports for the northwest Italian ski scene. Car hire in Aosta Airport provides easy transport to the slopes.
The airport is a single terminal facility with basic yet convenient amenities. Restrooms, seating areas, food and beverage counters, ATMs and internet access are just some of the facilities found inside the terminal. Car rental in Aosta Airport can also be found on site. A small runway, stretching just 1,500 meters, serves the airport.
Take the SS26 to reach the inner-city of Aosta or the Aosta Valley ski region, which lies further west. The A5, which is also known as the Turin-Aosta Autostrada, runs along the southern perimeter of the airport. Travellers can take this road to the ski fields to the west or to the city of Turin in the southeast. Mont Blanc, Europe's highest mountain, is perhaps the valley's biggest draw.
A ski trip here is best schedules during the months of December, January and February. Temperatures drop to between 0°C and 5°C, but the skiing is awesome. If hiking and sightseeing is preferred, then travel to Aosta in May, June or September. The city is packed in July and August, so these months should be avoided.
Seeing local sites like the cathedral, the Arch of Augustus, the Saint Benin College and the Roman Amphitheatre is best done with car renal in Aosta Airport.
