One of the best airports in Spain would have to be Bilbao Airport. This is an airport that is located just 5km always from Bilbao city in Loiu, Spain. In fact, this airport happens to be one of the most important airports of this area and for most of northern Spain. It is said that this airport carried out almost 4.5 million people in 2007. One thing that is well known at this airport is, of course, its new terminal. This is something that opened up way back in 2000, which makes the "new" terminal almost eight years old. This was a design that was handled by Santiago Calatrava.

People love flying into the Bilbao Airport, because of the sleek design of its terminals. In fact, people have claimed that it has two symmetrical wings that stick out from it. There is also a very sharp tip that is located in the center of this airport. It is very visible when you are approaching the terminal from the sides. The first nickname that it was going to be given was called the La Paloma, which means The Dove. It is very well laid out where you have the upper floors for the departures and the lower floors for the arrivals. This keeps people from getting mashed together. They also have different floors for begs and other things of that nature. There are lots of shops in this airport to make sure that you have lots to do while you are awaiting your flight. This is one of the best airports in all of Spain.

Transport to and from the airport is available. There are three major car hire companies offering Bilbao Airport car hire, they are Avis, Hertz and National and all have counters in the arrivals lounge of the airport.  There are taxi's available from the airport, they are located outside the arrivals hall along side the bus service that provides transport into the city centre every 20 minutes.
